Switchable Privacy Glass

Switchable privacy glass changes from clear to opaque or frosted when an electrical signal is applied. It gives you privacy on demand without permanently blocking natural light, making it particularly useful for meeting rooms, boardrooms and private offices. DY Constructions can supply and install the glass along with the associated framing, transformers and electrical works required for the system.

It works best in spaces that sometimes need to feel open and connected, but also require privacy at certain times. This can include boardrooms, meeting rooms, executive offices, consultation rooms and glass-fronted private offices. We can help you decide where switchable glass adds real value and where a simpler glass or privacy-film solution may be more suitable.

The switching function itself controls visual privacy rather than sound. Acoustic performance depends on the type of glass, framing and overall partition system being used. If your room also needs a higher level of sound privacy, we can recommend an acoustic glass or double-glazed solution as part of the overall partition design.

With common switchable glass systems such as PDLC, the glass typically returns to its frosted state when power is removed. The exact behaviour depends on the product specified, so we can confirm how the selected system will operate before installation.

Yes. We can incorporate switchable privacy glass into a larger office fitout or refurbishment and coordinate the associated trades and services, including aluminium framing, electrical connections and transformers. This allows the glass system to be properly integrated with the rest of the office design and construction works.
